Halotron Fire Extinguisher
Halotron Fire Extinguishers use Halotron™ I, a clean fire extinguishing agent that discharges as a rapidly evaporating liquid, which is non-conductive, non-corrosive, and leaves behind no residue.
Amerex Models A384T, B385TS, B386T: Halotron Extinguishers size 1.4 lb, 2.5 lb, and 5 lb have a BC rating, and can be used on class B and C fires. (These units are not rated for class A fires).
Amerex Models 397 and 398: Halotron Extinguishers size 11 lb and 15.5 lb have an ABC rating, and can be used on class A, B, and C fires.
• Class A: Wood, Paper, cloth, trash, plastics (solids that are not metals).
• Class B: Flammable Liquids-Gasoline, oil, grease, acetone (includes flammable gases).
• Class C: Electrical Fires, Energized electrical equipment fires (anything that is plugged in).
Halotron Extinguishers size 5 lb, 11 lb, and 15.5 lb are USCG Approved for Marine/Boat use with Bracket listed on UL Label (Amerex Models B386T, 397 and 398) Halotron Fire Extinguisher
*Halotron Fire Extinguishers are ideal for fires near electronic data and equipment such as data centers, military electronics, laboratories, warehouses, manufacturing plants, general office areas, telecommunication facilities, clean rooms, computer rooms, control rooms, vehicles (including classic autos), boats, engine compartments, aircraft ramps, onboard aircraft and in facilities that service aircraft and any facility where dry chemical fire extinguishers could cause unacceptable damage or contamination. Halotron Extinguishers can also be used in bedrooms, home offices, home kitchens, cars, and garages.
Halotron Fire Extinguisher Uses
The extinguisher contains Halotron I as an extinguishing agent. Halotron I is a clean fire extinguishing agent mixed with fluorite methane and argon as propellants and is used in both portable and handheld fire extinguishers. Halon is a liquefied, compressed gas that stops the spread of fire by chemically disrupting combustion.
It is one of the most widely used extinguishing agents because it can efficiently and rapidly extinguish the fire and protect the assets without leaving any residue behind. Halotron I is secure, effective and it does not provide any harm to the environment. It does not cause ozone depletion. It does not provide any harm to human health.

Halotron I is a proven clean fire extinguishing agent designed for streaming applications in portable and handheld fire extinguishers. It is the world’s most widely distributed halocarbon-based clean fire extinguishing agent for such applications. Halotron I has shown, by way of repeated successful extinguishment of real-world fires, that it can quickly and effectively protect valuable assets without generating an undesirable solid residue during Halotron Fire Extinguisher process.
It is common for users of fire extinguishers to have limited experience in their operation, and an independent study showed that Halotron I is easier to use for such relatively inexperienced users than other halocarbon clean agents. Halotron I is a safe, effective, environmentally acceptable chemical blend based on the raw material HCFC-123. It was originally introduced in 1992 to replace severe ozone depleting halon 1211, or hydrochloride polyurethane
Halotron I is discharged as a rapidly evaporating liquid, with a throw length of 6 to 45 feet (1.8 to 13.7 meters). Its relatively high boiling point of 80.6°F (27°C) gives it an advantage over other clean extinguishing agents, which tend to have lower boiling points and therefore evaporate sooner, limiting their throw length and overall effectiveness to the non-expert firefighter.
Also, unlike traditional dry chemical agents such as mono ammonium phosphate (ABC Dry Chemical) or potassium bicarbonate (Purple K), which can be corrosive, Halotron I is a clean agent that leaves no residue after application, and consequently inflicts little to no collateral damage on equipment in the vicinity of the fire.
Halotron I is approved as environmentally acceptable under the U.S.
EPA’s SNAP program and has undergone the most extensive testing of any halogenated clean agent for portable fire extinguishers since 1992. There are more than 30 separate UL listings for Halotron I portable extinguishers, which is more than twice the number available with any other halo carbon-based clean agent.
Halotron Fire Extinguisher
Halotron extinguishers have a few additional advantages when compared to a CO2 extinguisher.
Pressure Gauge Included – This allows you to confirm that the extinguisher is still keeping the agent at the correct pressure to ensure it will work when needed. Lower PSI – Halotron has an average of 125 psi compared to a CO2 extinguisher average of 800-900 psi. No Thermal or Static Shock Potential – Manufacturers say that you will not have a chance of thermal or static shock with Halotron. You do have those risks with CO2 extinguishers. UL Rating for Class A Fires – Halotron can be used on Class A fires if it is an 11lb or 15.5lb extinguisher. The smaller Haltron extinguishers do not qualify for a Class A rating
